The Dividing Bread Ministry mission and goals:
The Dividing Bread Ministry is dedicated to Christ-like love and support of underprivileged women and children by supplying basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter and education to promote stability of needy families in our local communities.
This not for profit ministry will be an important resource for residents with needs in Collinsville Oklahoma and surrounding communities. With the continued decline of our current economy, significant job losses and increasing State budget cuts, basic needs of many local families are going un met.
The Dividing Bread Ministry will meet these needs by operating a volunteer-run thrift store providing quality clothing, household goods and Christian literature. Profits from the thrift store will generate income in addition to donations from individuals, churches, and businesses, to stock an in-store food pantry providing necessary food to local residents who would otherwise be hungry.
USDA statistics indicate 1 in 5 Oklahoma children are at risk for going to bed hungry every night and is ranked 4th in the nation for number of people considered “very low food secure” or in other words, “hungry”.
The ministry will offer a monthly Bible study at the thrift store and Christian pastoral counseling if requested to assist with any spiritual needs. The thrift store will provide Christian literature and educational materials free and at discounted prices.
As God provides, and the Dividing Bread Ministry grows, it will also support residents at risk for homelessness by providing rent and utility payment assistance. The community members in need of these services will be mainly identified through local Church referrals.
The Dividing Bread Ministry, under God’s direction, will help to restore and empower families with economic and spiritual needs in our local communities.
